Lighting strikes ignite California Palisades
Unstoppable. Wild terrain and loss of water pressure due to leaky lines create impossible conditions.
Fire, devastating to structures leave thousands evacuated from their homes. Here is one of many links that will give timely information. Give the pets both large and small a good thought or two.
James Woods house burned down and Twitter et al is roasting him while living. Perhaps he could have saved all the liberal tears he made to,... oh well, those metaphorical tears are sort of dry. Liberal tears come mostly from barrels, are oaked, smoked and veddy veddy drrrrryyyyy indeed.
“Oaked wines are wines that have been aged in oak barrels. The oak influences the taste of the wine inside, adding body, flavour and aromas such as vanilla, spice, tobacco and smoke.”
In other places…
This winter is not going well. And yet,… and yet,… demands by people for normalcy and having needs met are stoked by the whiner in chief are imho, why we are in such a bad place as a planet.
Nothing has gone well for anyone since the Covid pandemic. It halted everything. We recall, we know, but those aren’t emotions. Captured by fear, grief, loss and depression over what we see as the future unfolding… the problems of a restart are intentionally ignored. More than demands for a normalcy we no longer possess.
Tired of talking about climate and nothing being done? Donald will make us all shut up about homes, animals polar ice caps to worry about more war explosions. That’s got to be more impactful than my attempt to recycle. on the bright side, maybe Canada won’t resist. A war like Russia made with Ukraine was only three days. No? No. Not even close. And Putin didn’t take his call for peace talks. Zero surprises.
Putin is a fool to keep going as is Trump. Musk too. We gather power by understanding our real situation unfettered by propaganda to eject them all as they gather power too. Mandate indeed.
“Gulf of America”, because the world cannot be white enough says Donald Drumph, his unchanged, pre immigration family name. It’s German. My family came from just next door in Austria-Hungary. It’s not where one is from that makes one’s personality, dreams, inclinations.
Trump and musk would make immigration laws to really insure every person that gets into any country should be smart, kind. Helpful, cooperative. A benefit to all around. The try is for a Christian nation. I think that’s making ports of entry like the pearly gates and the land, all of the America he claims would be heaven, which it surely isn’t.
In other news, Jimmy Carter’s body was brought to Washing to DC to lay in state, as it is said, which is in the US Capitol.
Solum ceremony was observed in DC bringing Jimmy Carters body to the US Capitol. In saddest visual terms, tradition prescribes a riderless horse draws the wagon to carry the former president.
“A riderless horse ceremony is a tradition that honors the deceased by presenting a horse without a rider in a funeral procession or parade.”
Born October first 1924 in Plains, Georgia, James Carter, 76th governor of Georgia, 39th president of the United States. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. Said many times in the last days, “He left the world a better place.”
His presidential term, January 20, 1977 – January 20, 1981 were some of the happiest days of my experience as a young adult.
Jimmy Carter could have been tossed off as little more than a failed one-term president who presided over rampant inflation, a gas shortage and the Iran hostage crisis.
Instead, he turned the more than four decades after leaving the White House into a mission to save the planet – monitoring foreign elections, eradicating disease in Africa, addressing homelessness in America – and, in the process, redefined both how Americans viewed him and how the nation measures its ex-presidents. Carter died last month in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, at the age of 100.
I offer a few photos from yesterday’s ceremony. It was a terrifically cold day in Washington DC.
The guard.
A twenty-one gun salute at sunset.
Commands of “Ready, step” were given by the guard at the top and left side of the coffin. Ready, step,… ready step, were heard as the guards ascended with Carter. Family was in attendance and waiting at the US Capitol Rotunda.
Wreaths were placed by the three branches of government.
Speeches were given in Carter’s honor.
And lastly, it’s not the time or place that one can extoll as “great”. It seems that both time and place together, must conspire to aspire to greatness.
Thanks for being here. I wouldn’t be here without you.
❤️
I hadn’t cried about President Carter. Until now. I forgot about the riderless horse. Ya, broke me (no pun intended). 😭❤️🤍💙💫
The contrast between Trump and Carter is Total. It feels excruciating. Yes, "to feel is to be alive" as Sharon commented here. Endurance. Resilience. Solidarity. Kindness. Resistance.🤗✌️❤️💪
"It seems that both time and place together, must conspire to aspire to greatness." Yes!!🙏🌸
