The first I heard of this idea, I had to say, um. But thinking, it really makes enormous amount of sense. Zev and Eric at Narativ chat about a few ideas.
Talking about the Q, MAGA nut sphere, one can call it a cult with little disagreement because it’s seemingly run by and centered around Trump and his many manicured likenesses. Followers or members seemingly follow blindly with complete faith through thick and thin. Blind to the lies, through thick and thin. His begging for dollars and unflattering photos, thumbs in the wind, eagles abound on fluttering flags that support the confederacy and more. So, cult and also party in the Mar a Lago sense of the word, but not in the political with a platform sense.
Setting people in positions of power who clearly don’t belong has become the meritorious bestowing of favor to one who has attained a level of crime. Watch as they climb the ladder and watch as they are also dismissed as being too greedy for power. DeSantis is being pushed back by Trump for being too Trumpy. His accordion hands at the podium and ill fitting suit bely the Harvard Law degree. Not that they hand out fashion tips with that at Harvard but one with a potential “Esquire” post name might want to look well dressed. Not if you want to take over for No. 1 selling No. 2.
Marjory Taylor Green (is she keeping Green after her husband’s eminent successful divorce?) it is rumored she will be TFG’s actual #2 in 2024. Perhaps it was the announcement that when, not if, the GOP fully regains power in 2022, funding, all funding to Ukraine will be cut. A bold statement that will send the party running after her to keep up. Outrageous? You bet. Outrageous enough to get the favorable “thumb” from you know who. Who else has announced party policy according to none but oneself before?
Kari Lake is running for Governor of Arizona on a platform that promises to have Arizona participate in break up the United States along with the 0% abortion laws. A secession similar to the Confederacy. States want the Federal government out. Some states would refuse funding and programs that the states need. For some on the center, center-left, these ideas are so ridiculous they can be serious. They are. She is. Whatever they are proposing it’s just awful and they don’t really want it either except it is the fight. They are looking to engage us all in a fight with hopes it turns physical. The ideas and laws proposed and passed are poising us for a fight. Pawns like Hershel Walker are poising us for being abandoned.
The GOP pushback on the law, the not endless but seemingly endless appeals, the ignored subpoenas. The outrageous plan of John Eastman to end the peaceful transfer of power on January 6, 2020 where all his career long game would pay off. It’s become well known he clerked for SCOTUS Thomas. Close with Ginny. Ya di ya di yada, coup.
Everybody has everybody’s back in the GOP. The constipated face of Lindsay Graham pretty much says it all. Snitches git stitches.
