Watch the announcement above of Biden’s speech announcing his bid for president, again in 2024. I don’t know about you but I really want Joe to “finish the job” where Trump is concerned and I think he is about the only guy poised for 2024 to make it happen. Finish the job, Joe! More on that below. Tucker Carlson though will be folding his tent and putting it where?
In a surprise to everyone move, Rupert Murdoch cans Carlson with 10 minutes to air. Delicious. St. Schadenfreude is good to us all from time to time.
Was security waiting with a cardboard box? If only there were a dependable fly when you needed him.
Which awful thing was the one that put ruers over the edge. It may have been the “c” word in reference to Sydney, it may have been the increased legal ($) exposure because of Jan 6 comments. An Australian media case was settled on the merits of the Dominion suit. MeidasTouch knows all about it. Carlson’s reported misogynistic treatment of women added to it, in the end he’s another guy fired. Keith Olberman reports in his podcast that Carlson is out of a job but Fox News has some pretty sweet rules. Get fired, get paid as usual, unless you take another competing job. Will Tucker move on or stay collecting while doing nothing on the company dime? Some muse he will go into politics. I don’t think he has the credentials.
By the past employment reported, well, if I were HR…a pass on this guy for sure. At 53, he’s been fired from every job in the last 30 years, contributed to an insurrection, and never seems to know anything for certain. Biggest surprise is he claims Democratic status till 2020. Well, of course, now we know why he hates Trump so much. He’s really a Democrat.
Speaking of Democrats, Joe Biden. How about that guy announcing his candidacy this morning. The phone lit up at 3 am. Plenty of ageist comments today an likely everyday till November 2024. Here are my comments about ageism and Biden.
Looks to me we have some older folks who don’t need permission from the world to show up for work day in and day out. Who is running our corner of the world right now?
Joe Biden is 80. Four years older than Trump.
Donald Trump is 76. Four years younger than Biden.
Rupert Murdoch is 91. Eleven years older than Biden. Fifteen years older than Trump.
All the ages mentioned seem very high when you’re 30 something. When you’re 60? The ages seem more reasonable. Age souldnt’t be the hinge point. People today will grab any and every reason to ditch democracy. It so much like looking to Mars because the Earth… Biden is 80. That’s the truth, the deal and it can’t be changed. Is there another candidate to offer? Bring it.
It’s arguable, that Murdoch is the one really running the GOP now. Elise Stephanie? Nah. All of Congress is running her (Santos, Greene, McCarthy, still a thing). Trump running the GOP? Nah. Controlling perhaps but not running. He’s got more Trumpy things to do. There are some legal issues eating up his time, like the start of E. Jean Carrol case tomorrow. Willis in Georgia has been in the news to say that after July 11, indictments will be rolling out in the “looking for 11,wheverthousand votes” case. The Jack Smith case hasn’t said, but the top secret documents won’t declassify themselves now will they, really.
What are Murdoch’s plans post Carlson? Well, he sees the errors of his ways and he will now… oh please, Susan Collins, please take a seat. With Tucker Carlson gone, he will likely be on the same beam but a bit more careful as everyone else takes a swipe at the money piñata primed to break, one day. Until then, Fox and Fox News are going nowhere.
Biden’s plans are solid. The groundwork has been laid out with infrastructure, more jobs, let’s keep social security and medicare out of the grubby hands of McCarthy et al, get more protection through legislation around guns and women’s rights. Hey, while we are at it perhaps SCOTUS could use a look see to what can be done with lying judges. Joe wants to do it and with our help there isn’t anything we can’t do. Not if we do it together.
It’s amazing when you think about what it felt like to be in America in 2019. And 2020. Now, 2023. Better? You know it.
