In a clear message as to who we are and who Putin has become, Joe Biden cements our commitment to peace by standing firm with President Zelensky, Ukraine, the Ukrainian people and democracy throughout the world.
The act itself, the decision to stand with Ukraine is one of human decency and vision. To envision a future that responds to the needs of today, the demands for our collective health, survival and wealth, must be made from a compassionate view. Always true, it is increasingly important today with all the difficulties we face. A view that diminishes aggression and supports a working democracy acknowledges perhaps a history lesson learned.
Joe says all the time … I feel the same way about it and I invite the entire world to make this a world vision of cooperation.
I’m feeling a sense of pride today that seems familiar. The feeling is as welcome and oh so similar to the first hints of spring. Watching the news, I see it in everyones faces. It is a good day for the US and for the world as pride to who we are is being restored.
The detractors voices today seem weaker and their eyes seem a gaze less steady or is it me who feels stronger and more clear of where this gigantic ship of a country is headed? Either way, one year after the declared start to a crime against humanity, the unprovoked assault on Ukraine by Putin, the mood is now more buoyant, if for a moment. Seeing our Joe with Zelensky in Kyiv makes our direction and intensions perfectly clear. All you need are eyes. Or perhaps binoculars.
Today is also a day we ponder the sad news of Jimmy Carter accepting hospice at home. A most gentle and loving man, the country seemed to appreciate him more every year as we watched the 39th president, a peanut farmer from Georgia wield a hammer post presidency, building homes for those in need for Habitat for Humanity. The Carter Center he established “promotes and expands human rights”. A nobel peace prize winner, President Carter is currently 98 years of age.
Life thrives on love. Forget that other stuff.
