Not one Republican seeking office is different than trump. He won’t allow it. The GOP won’t either. Not anymore.
The one known as “He”, may not be the nominee. It’s not assured, yet. He may go to jail. He’s still the one that made policy, if you can call chaos and hatred policy and they march lock step to his tune. And yes, the tune is, YMCA.
Are we being “both sidesed”, being marched off a cliff by the media? Seems so. Republican thought by looking at the candidates is circulating too much in places that might be airing more Democratic views. Thoughtful discussions on small differences on draconian abortion laws that need to go, lock stock and barrel. The long winded differences in Republicans (which when functionally installed won’t matter a hill of beans) is not informative in a way that help our fragile democracy.
The election cycles are starting in similar fashion to how Christmas waits for Thanksgiving. The economic engines starting gun to offer specials and generally add lights of red and greed, uh, green to everything in sight.
Election season is coming so maybe a Dem will crack the wallet for a ten spot for Schumer every time he sees DeSantis on the screen? The electioneering has started. A wobbly shakey start but gaining speed with a bigger crowd. Not naming more names. Tired of the old faces and the silly antics to stand apart. Looking a little too much like the real Village People as politics by some is distilled to deflection and obfuscation instead of any indication to lead let alone serve. Yes, some even wear costumes.
Imagining now the penal system transformed to accommodate a presidential candidate and what if he wins? Secret service needed as a layer from guards or other inmates? How would a staff function? Entertain heads of state or perform many of the normal tasks of the presidency such as giving speeches or going to summits. A convicted felon cannot vote and yet we may have one running for office. In the case of Former, running is nearly as good as but not quite as good as winning when all the levers of power are in his mitts.
See all the Republicans on MSNBC? We do not want more of Ron DeSantis and Tacky O his handler. We come to MSNBC to avoid the R’s and hear the news of how many years in prison a particular insurrectionists will serve in prison. We tune in to hear how Joe Biden is lifting the country up after the last administration, is how Joe puts it. You remember. The cratering economy, the fallout of a pandemic caused in part due to purposeful governmental decisions. We are getting much of the country back on track as we liked it. Healthy, lowest unemployment, transportation fixes on the horizon. Gas is looking good. Electric cars on the way. Imagine where we might be today if the last administration wasn’t one of the few one term administrations in history?
How about that Ukraine continuing to push successfully back on Putin’s Russia. Another story of resilience and survival. What we are being schooled in is how far the Republicans will go to harm us with gun laws and abortion laws. Banning books from schools. Limiting history to exclude vast reservoirs of knowledge including but not limited to the history of the Civil War.
Division and hatred leading to a homogenization is their game. Who remembers the Muslim ban? The first enormous protest. Then pussy hats to push against, ya know. Then white supremacy made several exceptionally deadly and ugly appearances. SCOTUS is a monumental problem still to approach. The mass shooting persist and drag queens are needing our love and protection. All screaming twenty alarm fires demanding attention as I pine for the days of crying over polar bears and the environment although all that is nothing except worse due to neglect. If the problem isn’t in front of us we don’t push hard for solutions and we are pushing as hard as we can now for democracy and our rights to complain and fix climate next.
Gaslighting and the dreaded grooming are their techniques.
A mouse can and will eat a loaf of bread. One tiny crumb at a time. Looks still there. Looks still there. Until it’s gone.
