As a democrat, I have been angry for a long time with the administration prior to Biden.
The January 6 hearings committee has brought the inner workings to light and what we are seeing, seems to be an orchestration of several branches of our federal government by the former president as he withheld information from each. Like a puppet master, he held the strings and had the marionettes dance. He played one branch against the other. Trying on plans with one as he worked with another. He played one against the other to create a scheme that would keep him in office. “The plans” worked with some detours. “The plan” had brought people and weapons and intent to the Capitol on January 6. “The plan” kept people engaged in fighting for hours. “The plan” was working till it didn’t. He hit a road block. The driver.
It’s clear that the Capitol that day, January 6th, 2021 had few police, purposefully. No guard. No military and no one to defend against the numbers of insurrectionists because no one was expected to go to the Capitol. The Capitol Police were set up to fail. It was in the plan. His plan. The official plan ended at the eclipse. The Oath Keepers, Proud Boys and the inner circle of coup planners knew a different plan. Twitter knew too. And some at Twitter wanted to do something but did not. Seems people knew but not the people who would be under attack, although, that may not strictly be so. We are still waiting to hear more officially about the Senators and Congress that are called the “Freedom Caucus”.
Extemporaneous comments at the Ellipse speech led the rally goers to walk on over to the Capitol with him. He would likely go to the Capitol and spur on more violence. We may never fully know what the end result of the plan would have look like if it had not been interrupted. In the previous hearing, Cassidy Hutchinson described a second hand account of a struggle in the presidential limo. after being refused by the driver to be taken to the Capitol, he tried to grab the wheel. Imagine that for a moment. He tried to grab and take control of the steering.
The violence at the Capitol was to delay the Electoral College count was not the first plan to steal the election. That was the phony electors from six states. That’s a good number of bogus signatures by a second list of “officials”. These slates were signed by people who had no authority to do so was presented and rejected for the sake of brevity, by all the kings horses and all the kings men.
We won’t know how many plans there may have been. But a fragile plan we will call “B”, required so many things to go right, and, they did not go, but, terribly wrongly with injuries and deaths by the courageous men and women who defended the Capitol, our officials and the moment. Worth mentioning are the many insurrectionists who’s lives have been altered though injury, prison, legal bills. They were also duped, lied to and used. Used indiscriminately as a disposable tool.
The former president is thought of in a wild spectrum of ways to be stupid, senile, demented, a fool. Evidence supports it all, but, its confusion is the key to understanding that is a fairly well sculpted profile. Smart enough to listen and apply the knowledge. Smart enough to know that an enigma has an edge since no one is truly comfortable.
More to come soon in the saga of filling in the gaps to the story of how the plan to stay in power was created by the president for a successful coup with non government assistance. The “Star Wars bar” group in the Oval Office had planning at other locations, too, led likely by an inner circle of criminal conspirators. We know the names. They have been in and out of jail and continue to try to do little plays for us on tv and in the courts. Like the boys in the back of the bus smoking cigarettes and putting their dirty feet on the seats, they are agents of chaos. Dirty, time wasting chaos.
In the end, it was likely a weird unanticipated moment that scuttled the project for that day. The Secret Service driver performed his duty that day as the official presidential schedule was to take him back to the residence. In that moment, the plan was wrecked. Rather than doing what the Commander in Chief barked as an order in an off cuff last minute command to “drive me to the Capitol”, a short struggle ensued and the car went back to the residence. The driver that day was likely most important adult in the room.
