No, wait, that’s a different criminal case. Right, this one’s the catch and kill. Payment to a media outlet to purchase exclusive rights to a story, then decline to publish. Viola! No NDA needed. The offensive material is swept into the bin.
So, what you have is an ordinary citizen looking to clear his name of wrong doing. Oh, sorry, not wrong doing. Being an adult, with an adult, having an extra marital affair isn’t against the law. He wanted to hide his name from the public because he was running for the office of president and he thought these facts would blow his chance at a win. Spreading a few Benjamin’s around usually does the trick.

No, not everyone is campaigning for president. Not everyone is looking to fool the public to gain the highest political seat in the United States.
The law, however takes a long and unfavorable look at suppressing information that every voter should have. Information that could affect their decision at the ballot box. The charges are about the coverup. Call it The Nixon Effect, the coverup, the nemesis that sinks the ship. The knowledge of wrongdoing prompted the coverup which becomes ham fisted and seen by enough people in the right places to cause a ruckus, get unearthed and boom, I am not a crook. Between former personal lawyer Michael Cohen with Trump and on the receiving end, Stormy Daniels, there was a lighting round Family Feud style of check writing and a false company making. On April 4, 2023, the day of the arraignment, the lack of protesters drawn to shelter the man of the hour, was likely due to supporters fatigue and also perhaps that the most ardent supporters are serving time for their showing up at the Capitol per DFG’s request on Jan 6, 2021. It’s been proven a poor personal choice to come to Donald’s defense. He did not appear to help them beyond the pardons for some high ranking helpers like Bannon and Stone. The ones with boots on the ground? Crickets. Back at ya.
Marge Green and George Santos both went to NY to support their president in MAGA style and we met with a NY style reception. Take a moment to recall that the pandemic in the City was not your bad pandemic. It was epochal. Refrigerated trailers were brought in to store the dead as funeral homes were unable to keep up. Lots and lots of people were denied medical help for usual treatments as the medical insitiutios were becoming overwhelmed.
Another reminder as we all may recall, an average of 400 people a day were dying of Covid-19. Trump was indeed president at the time. For months, people stood on balconies or in their window banging pots to thank the nurses and doctors for their heroic efforts. There were no vaccines. Medical personnel were at risk and did in fact die because in part of a lack of protective gear. Many remember the PPE, the gear that was sent to China by the Trump administration leaving us with little for ourselves. Ivermectin and Clorox were offered by 45’s special medical picks desperately trying to diminish Dr. Fauci. This is climate into which MTG and Santos thought they would show everyone just how MAGA does it in Warshinton dee cee.
They were run out of town. We are done with Trump and I think it’s all over but the crying. Big crocodile trumpy tears. There have been no protests that turned out in a civil war clash because of the indictments. DFG’s team seem to be out of magic dust. Or beans. Whatev.

The maneuver’s surrounding the payment to Stormy and others were at the heart of it one line of effort to garner votes for president by coverup of an event that might be disqualifying. It was an effort to take the election fraudulently.
The Dominion suit coming into view that does not involve Trump directly but the people surrounding his campaign also hinges on the idea of lying, defrauding the American public. The thrust through Fox News and any media that would run it, was to call the Dominion voting machines faulty, returning the wrong conclusions.
The case that comes from Georgia is another case of Trump effectively asking the Governor to “find” votes to give the final tallies to favor him changing the winner of the 2020 election from Biden to Trump. But it’s just a few, right?
There had been some talk about what cases should be tried first. There are more on the list to be had. The secret and otherwise depicted documents come to mind, perhaps the most serious case of all.
The “hush money case” was thought too light weight to go first, as if all departments of justice across the US are juvenile soft ball batters vying in the batting lineup for a homer. It’s perfect the way it is. DFG tried to alter the results of the election in 2016. He tried again in 2020 with all kinds of other crimes in-between. The beginning seems like the best place to start.
