Lies are slippery and one will never win against them. Or will we?
Mark Meadows says now there was no declassification of Trumps Mar a Lago documents, withering away at Trumps slender defenses. Bus, meet Mr. Trump. Could the declassification myth have been another in the moment, seat of the pants defense by Trump as we have seen countless times? Another lie that depends on the cover of some other guy to support that lie. Meadows as one of eighteen others wrapped up in conspiracy charges with Trump, appears done with the game. Also, Meadows thinks as (former) Chief of Staff, he should be allowed to sit out the Georgia RICO case because.
Similar to Meadows, John Eastman is having thoughts. Eastman was simply employed by POTUS in a moment of creativity. Taken by the muses so to speak. Spirited away in the moment of the intellectual challenge. Lofty, lofty thoughts, ay there John?
Eastman made his arraignment today and sought out MSNBC reports discretely around the corner from the courthouse entrance. Rather than simply disregard the media crew, Eastman made an effort to (tap, tap tap) register his “no comment” comment. Shrug emoji.
Nineteen indicted defendants in Willis’s Georgia case and only two have surrendered, Eastman and Scott Hall. With three days to go, will the rest, won’t they? Georgia prosecutors office has been crystal clear. People “invited” are received until Friday August 25, 2023 at noon. Open 24/7. Warrants will be issued for those who have neglected to appear before then.
Guess who’s also balking now? Jeffrey Clark, asking the court to cease and desist. Always wanted to say that. Guess he’s another not so confident in having his day in court to clear his name. Below is part of the filing. Left out is “you can’t make me” and “I double dare”.
The bleating and finger pointing has begun. Meadows believes he should be excused and is also placing an order against Fani Willis, that he cannot be arrested. Bon Chance. Eastman is saying he should be let off since he was simply being “a creative”. Jenna Ellis thinks Trump should be paying for her legal fees. Add Clark, fourteen additional mock rationals to come.
Wednesday the 23rd, is the Republican “debate”. A dog and pony show of Trumpistanian citizens without their leader in tow yet dancing on the attached string. With possibly one exception as Chris Christie continues to say he’s running only to have a negative voice against the Former Guy, who he solicited for AG once upon a time…interesting times, indeed.
Will they have real discussions about policies? More questions than answers so let me say this now. Overwhelmingly, Americans would like to restore women’s rights. In spot number two, number one for some is addressing climate change. In the top five of topics of overwhelmingly high support is that of gun violence as well as violence against the LGBTQ community and its supporters. Realistically, the GOP only talks about Hunter Biden. Ok, maybe that’s not fair. They love to talk about Trump. That is true. Additionally the discussions will be attacking each other. That takes care of about half the discussion. Government shutdowns and defunding stuff like law enforcement (FBI, CIA) and what will they want to do with the economy? They will say the party all pitched in to help Joe with the heavy lift which they did not.
The 14th Amendment may be the game changer we are in need of. Judge Michael Luttig along with Professor Laurence Tribe have come together to highlight and serve it up fresh to the American public concerning the 2024 election. Judge Luttig a lifelong conservative Republican and Prof. Tribe a Democrat. The Atlantic was applauded for their (paywalled) article. Here’s more from Mother Jone’s instead. The up shot is Section 3 of the 14th amendment is clear in who is qualified and who is disqualified from holding the presidency of the U.S. The whole affair seems easy enough. Clear enough but now we will have to see how all this works since this was place in the Constitution to handle people in politics in Southern States after the Civil War barring the ideology from politics that had just been defeated by blood. The 14th Amendment, Section 3 hasn’t been used in a while. But let out the choke and give that puppy a pull.
Section 3.
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.
Judge Luttig’s remarks today Nicolle Wallace’s show are clear, concise and correct to my understanding and ethics. He maintains Trump lost the election fairly in what is likely the most scrutinized and fair election in history. He also maintains Trump has pushed very hard to be indicted in all his cases indeed so he would be under indictment as he is also running for office. Quite the Maestro move. Rats, I was really hoping he’d flee. The above clip is what we rarely see, a real and deep dig by serious minds and a rare glimpse of a legal giant at work. Long and worth your time.
Gaming it all out, the election is more than likely going to be decided with Biden being reelected. Ask a Republican or former Republican and you’ll get all sorts of foot dragging about allegiance all frightened of the first and most obvious question about the election and the lie. The pathetic slicing of words. Given the psychosis around the question beyond that fundamental question, the Party is still splintered. There is no clear policy on which to run. So many Republicans and so many Republicans that support the man who is clearly disqualified to hold office. Donald gave aid and comfort on January 6. He did not say “go home”. He did not hurry to say anything at all. There was business to do. People died. When he did make a statement he said among the meaningless commands of not commanding he then ended, “I love you.”
The constitution is being tested. Our laws, the courts, indeed we are being challenged to uphold the rule of law and democracy for 331,449,281 million Americans.
Thanks for being here. Join me for more as we wave the GOP into their special sunset.
Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
Look for a tidy bit later on. It’s brutal out there.
