The last couple days I’ve felt awful and I’m guessing you have too after the SCOTUSpalooza of a week which followed a tense time watching Russia’s version of cats in a sack fighting with little end to the speculations of its meaning.
In a satanic flip to Christmas gift giving we got more rights yanked away by a Federalist Society genuflecting bunch of nilhistic vacation hiding liars in what were once robes signaling deep respect. And just in time for our nations 4th of July celebrations.
The broken trust is shocking. Words of holiday fun or celebration are pale in my head full of anger and disappointment in our elegant and beautiful system corrupted in front of our eyes. Our reaching arms attempting to stop the slide away from the deeply human component we were taught is part of a democracy. Part of why our democracy came to be. The support, the looking out for people, is part of the mix of complex ideas upon which we base our nation.
We see the corruption of our courts literally rigged by those who swore allegiance to their champion donors first and who fixed a play for us to see but we are not so stupid, we also see through it. Kavanaugh and his beers and worried wife and daughter are dismissible. But are the FBI phone tips that were ignored and never followed. Someone somewhere has a list of all we should have known but didn’t due to careful management. We saw enough.
Skipping over other nasty bumps (Garland’s hearing that never was) to what may be the crown jewel of skulduggery because it’s just so obvious and again, stupid, or more specifically insulting to consider. The hypothetical case (they never take hypotheticals) of the web designer (who has no business) who just wanted to get a special ruling for her little special self, so she can advertise that she does not serve gays in her web design business she was thinking of opening. God encouraged her so that makes it special to which number of degree? Does it matter that the business was for wedding sites? All part of the very specific story. Does it matter that most wedding websites are run by online tech business like WeddingWire all provided for free. The sites are made with click and drop and was it mentioned they are free free free? The story may yet be problem legally but how will we know if the Supreme Court is wrong if there is no court above them to judge. Our Mom and Dad of the Supreme Court just grounded us all and we were framed with no second chances to ‘splain. Again.
Scrolling through the dying gasps of the sick bird, Twitter, I watched a clip of Don Jr in one of his talking head rants were the deep state this and my father that in a progressive deepening of his sorry mental state which is a frightening haze of drugs in his rapidly aging and squinting face. No links here. You will have to imagine a boy of a man in real trouble for everyone to see.
The comments from the left side of our divided kingdom were cruel, cutting. Why not kick when he’s down. Why not. I closed the app and wept as I do too often observing the hate and how it seems to be springing from everywhere. A malign sprinkler shooting toxicity. A fine mist we live under in what is replacing the Covid that floated and hung around our necks for years. Distrust and anxiety ever present waiting to ignite into flames. We see the orange faced man with the lighter in the distance. We are expecting problems. The expectations are haunting. It’s the plan.
The signs are there. Don Jr will likely die if he stays his course. The big Twitter joke is no one cares. Big huzzah, very funny. Drugs and anyone who know about drug addiction knows this is callous and cynical as it gets and well, no better than the SCOTUS rulings of the up side down gift giving season. A coal bit for everyone’s stocking this Christmas in July.
So here’s the other flip. I felt bad for junior. Genuine but casual sadness that he doesn’t have anyone that cares enough to find a way to get him help. I thought about his criminal family and how useless they are to each other. I felt sad about his predicament. Too broken to care and too hated to be led to help. Big sigh.
I felt better. I felt renewed. I had thought of and cared for his future although I also knew I wouldn’t lift a finger but would if given the opportunity. I was more optimistic after I thought about this awful guy and his terrible life. How he could fix it but can’t and is deep into drugs which could not bury a person more deeply into the emotional hole they are already in. How will it it go for him? I don’t know but I genuinely wish him the ability to make better choices. I felt better and not because I felt superior in any way, I simply was able to feel empathy. Feeling empathy made me feeel better about it all.
His pain was a gift to me for the opportunity to feel empathy. Not quite love but love adjacent, empathy opens your heart and mind to another and their life. It’s a pause to look outwards. An opportunity to suspend judgement for a sec to look and imagine walking in someone else’s moccasins for a time. Empathy is a great teacher. And a healer.
SCOTUS is chipping away at more than our rights, they are shredding our rights in front of or eyes and giving us the big middle finger in an effort to
1- shred what we knew to be our rights in an attempt to keep America very white and Christlike y’all, and
2- tear at our empathy which is the how and why we endeavor to live our democratic values every damn day. A hardened heart waiting at the shore of the US rather than a promise of inclusion and a new life free from tyranny.
How do you break a horse? How did a master break a slave? Why erase history? We are being broken, one right at a time. We’re being asked to take it, cower and comply with no recourse. One empathetic heart at a time will be closing shop due to the increased of inflicted pain. It’s a bonus or simply a part of the well known, time tested propaganda tools.
We have little to no recourse except voting which is under fire. How will a broken person vote? The gift of propaganda tarnishing our nation in every media broadcast. “Maybe they won’t vote. Maybe they think their votes don’t count. Maybe the votes are not counted properly so why bother.” On the left, we have good reason also to doubt but we have chosen to show the system surrounding voting, works. We did this though recounts and once again through the courts. No coincidentally, we currently wait for indictments to come from Georgia and elsewhere in RICO charges that will punish those involved in the bogus electors scheme. These charges will also go far in illuminating the still active attempts at a coup, an attempt at theft of the 2020 election still in motion. A rolling theft of our good will as well.
Stay safe this Fourth. I do believe we will vote for democracy in 2024 and keep voting for democracy till this nightmare is behind us. Register. Help others to register. Make sure all your credentials are ready. We only have, lol, one and one half years.
Thanks for being here.
