From January 29, 2023 , until it was shot down on February 4, 2023 the much reported balloon from China had the attention of the nation and the world. Slow moving, the large mostly white balloon strained relations with the US and China, Canada and China, and MAGA’s with Dems.

China said the balloon in question was a weather balloon. It’s being collected from the drink off the coast of South Carolina after being shot down by an F-22 fighter jet. After collection it will be inspected. More information is likely forthcoming. Looking forward to that.

The balloon incident is a particularly good illustration of the GOP/MAGA profile of current times and should telegraph to the rest of us about where they are headed for the future. Rather than taking care of a situation with protocol and procedure, there were calls for immediate action with no regard for safety or logical action. Frankly, the balloon and its meaning became ignored and was used exclusively as a Biden bashing tool.

The performative nature of the MAGA cult around this balloon should be looked at and remembered. Every time Biden is mentioned or derided with language like - Biden is weak and doesn’t do anything about immigration, infrastructure, jobs, gas prices, inflation… insert “balloon” to see if it works. Did he shoot the balloon? MAGA will claim only after they harangued him into waking up to do it. Only after we gave the codes to the underground silos of missiles of nuclear! but the secrets! the photos! They behave like paid mourners at an Italian funeral.

Tomorrow, Joe Biden will be giving the State of the Union Address. Revisions, it’s reported are being made because of the Chinese balloon incident. It’s clear there are real issues that may have come up due to this balloon business.

I hope Biden remarks on all the good that has happened in the country done by his administration.

I hope Biden makes remarks about how the most danger we face in the United States is by domestic terrorists. Some domestic terrorists groups are the Proud Boys. A national “club” that has for most purposes, disbanded, and like ISIS, they have splintered into being smaller and loosely connected groups. The intensions of the smaller groups are the same as they ever were. I hope people are able to make the connection between the white national terrorist groups and the performative clowns in Congress. We are still waiting for the inditement of the higher ranking dissidents responsible in the January 6, 2021 insurrection. It’s been said there are some currently holding seats in Congress.
