In news that’s hardly news, Republican Party has released Kevin from his job of promising things he can’t or has no intention to deliver.
First time ever a speaker has be ousted, as we continue to hand out those awards to the Republicans of unprecedented this and that as Trump gets another first today as well. An order of “shut it down now” from Judge Engoron in Trump’s Trump Org case. and he’s not talking about the organization. He’s talking about Trumps shenanigans which sound less bad that way, but to be clear the crimes of intimidation and raising the troops to similar works.
How Trump manages to glower for hour after hour has to challenge Guinness records but who cares about frowning for hours on end. Not an Apprentice fan, it occurs his “face” he pulled for the mug shot was the same face we are seeing in the courtroom looks suspiciously like his Apprentice “You’re fired” face. It’s acknowledged he’s a poor actor but he’s also seriously mean so maybe it’s on the natch. Aside from all that pandemic wrongdoing and add all the insurrection stuff. He’s engages in theater, yes, but his actual bite (pandemic, Jan 6, etc) is bad.
Trump’s latest target of burn it all down in signature bullyship methods is, Judge Engoron’s staff. He’s judge in the bench trial of Trump Organization. It begins much in the ways he began attacks on Shea Moss and Ruby Freeman. Hell, ask freshly retired General Miley. Judge Engoron isn’t going for it.
So what happened is, a letter went out to Trump supporters as well as a Truth message disclosing a staffer’s insta account and a photo of her and Chuck Schumer, Trump calling the woman Schumer’s girlfriend. Insinuations are the Cinderella mice of wrongdoing. So busy, so loyal.
This is the judge to watch for reigning in Donald’s behavior. Oh, if your Bingo card has Judge first to place a gag order on Trump, you may be a winner.
In other GOP meltdowns, McCarthy wasn’t handed a lifeline by the Dems today and likely as reported by some, is that he in simple terms can’t be trusted to keep his word.
Ones word is essential for the process of trying to pass laws as the lawmakers wheel and deal. In most basic choices of allegiance, Kevin sided with team normal after Jan 6 insurrection then, went south, literally, to Mar a Laforgetaboutit for dinner with the planner of the Jan 6 party he just dissed. The 15 votes it took Kev (Oy Gevalt! they’re just not that into you Kev. Move on but no) to go on and land the speakership in the first place is a clue to why and how this happened today. His slimly low actions seem odd for a guy that looks like he sells Good Humor ice cream in spare time. Kevin McCarthy in happier moments, below.
Matt Gaetz, newest leader of Putin Caucus led the charge to oust McCarthy, it took only one to lead the vote, as he shouted stuff about the deficit and how he’s working for peeeple as if he knows what that is. He got his way with Kevin whilst fundraising for his Florida governor run, double tasking credits for him. Wonder what DeSantis will be doing this time next year?
Credit goes to Chris Mathews for his comments, he has it right. The Republican Party is in this moment is continuing to dismantle the government. It’s a bold move to start with yourself but it appears to be what is happening.
Trump wants to tear up the constitution if we let him. Vivek Ramaswamy and the others also want to defund FBI, CIA, police, IRS. anything with a badge and authority to keep things calm. What we see is what we will get. So, vote, but not for them.

Isn’t it possible that there does not exist any form of government capable of providing protection and equality under the law to all its people?
Autocracy protects the autocrats. Democracy has actors that uses sophisticated Social Psychology research, statistical analyses and big money marketing to divide the average and less than average citizen against themselves. Communism is an idealism that possibly may be functional for small groups but not for counties as it always devolves into autocracy by those that lust for power.
So what is left? Maybe an enlightened dictator? Sure, that is a probable solution assuming one can find an enlightened person that acts within that enlightenment—one can be enlightened and still not act in enlightened manner—that remains enlightened throughout their reign and has an equally enlightened person to transfer power to at the end of their reign.
So what is the solution?
There is no solution as the problem is not a problem with politics but a problem with human nature.
I wrote the above as a comment on another substrack site dealing with dysfunctional political situation in the UK. I thought it may be relevant here.
We are on the same side and I truly understand where you are coming from.
I’m currently watching a TV series called the GOOD WIFE which I missed when it came out and if you watched it you know one of its themes is political corruption. I confess to getting TOTALLY absorbed by what I watch and want to jump on my horse and charge windmills. Nevertheless, I have first hand experience with political corruption--IMO--on the national level. Remember The Keating Five? In addition, I have worked as an expert witness in the legal system for 25 years until retiring last year. I can make a good case that our legal system is broken and corrupt all the way down from the USA Supreme Court down to the various courts I have provided work in multiple states. Thus, my work and my experiences are not just opinions but actual experiences.
Some of my experience parallels what is going on now in the Trump Fraud case. What is being described as fraud in that case I have seen many times in Arizona but protected by government authorities.
I have done copious amounts of reading into the formations of civilization from the Ancient Sumerians, Akkadians, Egyptians, Greeks, and the creation of laws from the first codified Code of Hammurabi through the Magna Carter continuing through the American Constitution, though watching the corrupt, paid for decisions of US Supreme Court and various state courts.
My different attorney friends when questioned in depth will grudgingly admit that one can get as much “Justice” in this country as they can afford.
My point is I believe the system is rigged. However, where we most emphatically agree is that the MAGA types have leaders that are morally, ethically, financially corrupt to being an existential threat to this country.
I admit to being a little cynical but it has been said that inside every cynic is a burned idealist.
