Hear Ye, Hear Ye. Oh no, that was last week. Conviction on 17 counts for Trump Organization!
A happy kickoff to Conviction Season.
An exhausting bunch of years, since the escalator, the country is beginning to see our worry and hopes of accountability come to fruition. The nation is impatient but yet so patient.
Donald Trump, looking as we feel after years of all things Trumpworld all the time.
We have ranted and podcasted and hoped for the wheels of justice to produce something fine of all the chafe fed into the various mills. And today, if your Bingo card was a good one, you would have Alvin Bragg as the whale seeker, whale getter, in the December 6, 2022 verdict. The Trump Organization was found guilty on all counts.
The Trump trial winds up a few days after the week former guy tries to dispose of the Constitution. In an adorable backpedal, the usual, we misunderstand yet again his direct statements written in all caps and sent out as TRUTH. All the most important and best minds in politics today took his words as solid and real threats to democracy. Thinking it a call to violence, raising deepest concerns. In fact, aggression was noted at another drag show this time in North Carolina coupled with a shooting out of two poser stations leaving nearly 50,000 without power. A direct line between the sentiments and the terrorist attacks have not been established. The threats against democracy and the egging on of supporters are a backdrop we live with much as noise in the subway.
As normal, the cries of UNFAIR, are now eclipsed by the gavel coming down with GUILTY. Did I mention, on all seventeen counts. Glad Trump cleared it up, the constitution can stay, and there I was overly concerned that all the trouble folks went to to have “We the People” written on body parts would have to get out some Q-switched lasers to remove them. What Oath would the Keepers keep? How about the Proud Boys? Of what could they be proud? Why the tattoo removal machine in its latest techniques is called Q-switched, seems to be too much irony or a thing weirder perhaps than that.
In news from the Capitol,
Scott Macfarlane reports, today that at the close of the ceremony to honor the the police response at the Capitol, family of Brian Sicknick, there to receive the honors for their fallen relation, passed on the opportunity to shake hands with Mitch McConnell and McCarthy (just out of frame to the right). Macfarlane reports, “His brother Ken Sicknick told CBS News that Republican leaders "have no idea what integrity is."
The Republican leaders have not said much to refute the calls of Trump to dismiss, destroy, cherry pick the U.S. Constitution either. The party of hypocrisy waits to see if Walker can prevail over a qualified candidate in Georgia. Just holding their breath, waiting to see if their pick can manage to keep silent enough in the last moments as not to upset his possibilities. Walker is not a “quality” candidate the GOP may concede and still hopeful to capture the Georgia Senate seat, not to help Georgia but help their numbers for power.
It’s been announced by Merriam-Webster that gaslighting is the word of 2022. Honestly believed it had already been a word of some recent year. Hopeful that responsibility or leadership may be the word selected for 2023. Ever more hopeful we may one day have peace.
