Igniting war

sufficient distrust and hate still to be stoked

With winter coming to Ukraine, the anti democratic team Putin is doing its best to ignite a war where can still be fought out of the mud, in the superlative beauty of the Mediterranean, the cradle of civilization. Agitate a war never settled. Aim destruction at a people always called the aggitant, the bad apple spoiling the barrel, the eternal scapegoat. The scapegoat that has perfected an army because it had to. The scapegoat who in the past sought only shelter and compliance as its behavior, its bid for life. The land apportioned to Jews after the Holocaust was home to Jews seeking a permanent home. Israel defenses are stronger. Jews are stronger. The Jew in the black and white striped jacket and hat of the gas chambers and camps is gone. The skinny weakened men and women unable to resist their few captors. Never again. Never again it will be.

In unprovoked attacks on Israeli citizens on October 7, 2023, Hamas now has the world’s attention. They killed innocents and kidnapped a hundred and fifty men women and children. The attack was unspeakably malign. They have no specific demands at this time.

Protests are erupting for every conceivable reason in every place imaginable as truth lies, history, and our future hang suspended not yet landing for peace or war in the greater world. Palestinians and those who support them are holding the tension in Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, essentially everywhere in the Arab world. Today, protesters in the US Capitol, asking for cease fire.

Israel in the subtext to the more pressing present moment, is struggling to divest itself of a far right leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, Bibi he’s called. He’s been called Israel’s Trump. How accurate that is, I don’t know. My best opinion about him generally is he went too far, gave the Putin leaning forces too much. Perhaps the attack by Hamas, on Israelis, on the sabbath, has too many moments that vibrate in sympathy with the same way Trumps Jan 6 took “everyone” by surprise. Missing intelligence, people not getting mobilized for a variety of odd reasons. Coincidence or failure or error are all possibilities. A plan two years in the making with radio silence. Excellent track record. Last minute warnings somehow not received or thought credible or credible enough. There’s a confidence you get when looking at repeated patterns and this pattern seems suspicious and what I call “inorganic”. Not appearing to be a natural progression but to a desired outcome.

For now, there are 100 plus hostages in Gaza held by Hamas. Some are foreign or old or way too young. All are human and need immediate help. The design of Israel is to get the hostages out and be rid of Hamas. A simple to do list. Hamas has one too. Genocide of the Jews and the State of Israel. It’s a classic. It’s worthwhile making a touch of lightness around this darkest of dark thoughts as it is brooding and sick and try they may, its unsound in the modern world. It’s not worthy of consideration other than how to contain it and diminish its power as one might do to, well, Covid.

Similar leanings and thoughts continue to pollute Congress as our trials and tribulations of selecting a Speaker of the House continue on into some kind of unknowable sunset, with some Republicans demanding the speaker candidates all say what’s in their hearts. Was it Joe? Was it Don? It matters since from that thought all other thoughts seem to flow, increasingly both political thought as well as culture and now war. I want my Speaker to be a Joe person since it really should be a matching set throughout government.

The most recent incident moving the Middle East conflict news is an explosive that hit an outdoor area at a hospital in Gaza. It’s the worst he said she said at the center of the latest protests. Information and intelligence has taken a lead now about 24 hours after the incident, has been proven to show the rocket that hit the hospital was sent by a Palestinian Jihad sub terrorist group seeking to help Hamas. Gaza is gangs on gangs, all supposedly in service to the Palestinian people. Was the incident and the following protests the latest failure of journalists who attributed the rocket to Israel prematurely to any intelligence report sparking the protests? Were the attacks planned and with that planning also a followup of a showing in the streets? How were the protests so ready to go? So many flags, so many Arab Shemagh Kafiya Square Scarfs to hand out. Hey, not cheap either.

Btw, Hezbollah mentioned in Malcom Nance’s tweet is a bigger terrorist organization, run by .. who knows who as things there are changing too.., Lebanon. The world is morphing and changing fast with angers, allegiances changing moment by moment.

It all just strikes me as too prepared, as we also saw in other protests in the US. The appearance of kaki pants and face masks in unison. As I speak of terror groups half the world away, the supplies are all from Amazon?

It’s been the lousiest of days these past ten or so. It promises to get way worse for some. The human pain and suffering is tough to witness. These dramas are not unfolding on our shores and a bit of restraint is needed everywhere to allow the parties in the center of it all act with conscience and what is best for their country and their people. Israel must without question attempt to achieve their goals of eliminating Hamas a terrorist military governing body but not the Palestinian people, additionally, return all those kidnapped, to their lives. Their goals haven’t changed although the protests and warnings act as though the Israeli’s would say one thing and do another.

If only now the world were a chess board with strict rules to be played, but it is alive with controversy and turmoil where rules aren’t even organized smudges on a paper. As always, I maintain the world is only 49% lousy. We win more than we lose.

*edit. The number of hostages first taken was incorrect here, it was more, likely 200 or 205 individuals were kidnapped. The number may change.
