If you aren’t on Twitter, you might not care so much about it getting a shellacking. Social media is a time waster, it sows division, it’s a propaganda machine. With 169 million users, I found the following graph interesting.
Graph provided by Oberlo through a simple google search.
Elon purchased the company for an infamous 55 billion with a “b” amount of cashlike equivalencies. Some, I understand are from the Saudi’s. The company was said to be over valued but that was the price and it was after wrangling, paid. Musk seems to retain or at least reign with full authority.
Twitter employee troubles are current and scary for twitter uses who are from the casually addicted as is this writer and the journalists who have posted for most of twitters young life of sixteen years. The cash flow of advertisers to twitter is 90 percent of the revenue so above statement about Musk and his way of running Twitter is at odds. Twitter employees are also not so thrilled to be fired in population numbers that equal the entire town I live in. At Thanksgiving. The firings appear not to have cause but to be at will employees. I’m still looking into this loose string of the story.
As important are all the considerations of employees, fair treatment, legal treatment, the advertisers expectations and all other things associated to running a business, there is a matter of trust in a product and how Musk has seen his role. All business must be trustworthy to stay in business in the long run. A product performs as it should, good value and all, it stays. Schlock faces the dustbin.
A CEO is the face if not the real head and brains of a company giving it forward momentum and also personality. Steve Jobs created the apple products as an extension of his personal desires. He spoke often and at length how he wanted to create and offer a personal, portable, do everything device and so much more. He imagined many new tech concepts and brought them into the marketplace. Walt Disney had himself and Micky. Elon has himself and seems to be selling a trip to Mars because the earth is so over. Smacks of the Rapture, and the thoughts I understand Bannon supports (text and video of Bannon in his explanation) and Putin has his brand too, that (in a nutshell) the Earth is ka putski. The world, this world is over so let’s hurry to the next. Unfortunately, it means everyone dies. Definitely a cult, kool-aid vibe. This is bad news for those of us who have worked to build the present with thoughts of our future generations. We are confident there is a future, we trust there is.
Trust is belief and there is more to it than a label. Trust is built moment by moment by thoughts and feelings not brick and mortar. Trust is illusive and when gone is hard to rebuild and will never be replaced in the same way.
The war of fake isn’t over. Calling the news fake has made us untrustworthy of it all. Selling credentials is different than earning them and selling a blue check for $8. a month insult the idea of credentials. Who can you trust when real credentials and fake purchased credentials look the same.
Once last thought for the day. When Twitter was at it’s most vulnerable to being shut down. Yesterday was the day, November 17, 2022. Users tweeting goodbye and where to be found, and at that time FTX lost a lot of money, if you think 8 billion is a lot. Elon really likes crypto as does his close pal, Peter Theil, a German fellow that developed PayPal.
