A terrific illustration offered by Google that explains or shows the Solar System on the left and the point of view from the Earth on the appearance of the planets as they move.
There are long games and short games in life. Trends and blips and the overall fabric of life they play upon. Sometimes the fabric will change and sometimes it might break rather than bend. We are in, in every way, watching the fabric of life change while yet we are in it. We adjust and watch and shed a tear or cheer but no mistaking the change we are in is real. Astrology, an art, a meditation can be a way to understand and discuss. In this manner of exchange, the outer planets, the big ones are currently in flux as always. In the “Revolution 1” blog article there is some info that may help in understanding this, article '“2”.
In our solar system the heavily bodies circle the sun and in our ephemeris, the log of these events astronomically determined and recorded, (pictured in 1) the planets are tracked and being parts of a moving whole relate to each other in an ever changing relationship. Traveling at their own pace in their own orbit, the different speed of each planet creates a pattern that seems to never completely repeat and yet there is a dependable regularity to the motion. This next bit is hard to explain but is important to the messages given by these movements to the astrologer. It’s called retrograde, pointing to the appearance, but not the fact, that planets go backwards through the degrees of a sign (several times) before traveling forward again.
“when the planet appears from our human perspective on earth, to be moving backwards” . Often heard socially in relation to Mercury.
All planets appear to be in retrograde on a regular basis. Mercury is often given a lot of talk about its retrograde motion. Poor scapegoat of the Solar System gets blamed for problems in communications. Crashed computer, phone with a recurring glitch? Contract problems? “Is Mercury in retrograde?” The idea is that a planet, Mercury ruler of communications, goes back and forth creating more change in the same area of life, unstable change. Change that needs to be revised several opportunities, more times presumably to get it right in the end. That last bit may or may not be overly optimistic. However, moving on.
We know that tiny Pluto with big power to push change is entering a new sign in May of 2023. Not so far away considering the last time it had been at 0 degrees Aquarius was 245 years previously, in the years starting 1778, Revolutionary times. Pluto is not the only agent at work. There is the constant change but there are also inflection points that linger. These inflection points are reflected by the relationships to other planets. Let’s talk about Mars briefly.
Mars, in a bust of unknown origin. Thanks to Google.
Mars, the warrior. The Ancient Roman god was ruler or god of war and an agricultural guardian. Makes sense when your crop is everything, you would defend and protect it with all your might. And might is what Mars is. The energy is considered a masculine one and its energy even when muted is of a masculine nature. Action, passion, desire, competition are all expressions. Coupled with Pluto there is a push for change that can spill into violence, depending on the relationship it is more or less concerning.
We all experienced a Pluto - Mars, opposition lastly in June of 2017 as we are experiencing one now. Noteworthy in that time was the Trump Administration withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement. Now, some of the concerns in the news is the concern that violence in the United Staes might be tripped into a flare by legal pressure on the disgraced president, and pushed into play by whim. (For clarity, the relationship between the Pluto and Mars planets is the same, an opposition but is taking place in different places of the Solar System giving them a different expression in appearance.)
When you ride a wave on energy, things go smoothly. When you don’t, they don’t. If you are looking for peace, it will be difficult in an Pluto Mars opposition. If you are looking to ride the tiger of violence the Pluto Mars opposition is perfect. Make sure however, the tiger doesn’t like you too much. The volatile energy can take you to uncharted, unanticipated places.
Issues begun during a transit (a firm relationship of two planets because of angles that are in place) can last, being resolved at the end of the transit. These angles can be of long or short duration but the retrograde phenomenon can create a weakening and strengthening as many as three times before sailing off not to repeat the exactness of the relationship. An observer can watch these passes and see how the relationship in this case, conflict, moves and shifts with the passages.
The transit in question here is Pluto and Mars in an opposition and the news reported is telling of the Department of Justice’s subpoena on Mar a lago and the subsequent threatening from the former guy. There is much to said on the subject and the greater we, may be tired of the details. So be it. The push and the pulls are the story here as the details create the problems, however, in this transit and we may be watching this particular bit till January 26, 2025. I expect the rhetoric to change significantly on or about January 21 2024 as Pluto quite coincidently with the day we generally use for presidential inauguration, as Pluto will officially change sign that day.
The message here is meant to lead to the idea of choices. The thrust of life is forward, We look back and behind in an effort to know what to do. Planetary situations creates the energy for the events. It does not create the event.
As we go forward, the changes of today are the landscape of tomorrow. Future writings will take this Pluto Mars transit as a kick off to the Pluto in the sign of Aquarius time of some duration and address some of the changes we are facing.
We have choices in the most overwhelming of times. Drive defensively. Keep your eyes open to your surroundings and when it’s our time, vote. Remember, in war, you must do your part. Vote.
