The Jan 6 hearings seem so calm. We wait, also calmly for every word, for the testimony and the testimony is much like a meatball that has been rolling around in a car for a month. Covered in fuzz and unrecognizable bits it is in contrast, presented to us on black velvet in a shiny lacquered clam shell box. We can see it clearly for what it is.
Chaos is the well managed cover for the underlying skulduggery. Hypocrisy is blatant. It’s the world of politics and news we are managing around in, clarity, thy name is January 6 Committee.
Lady Ruby and her daughter Shaye, who we watched today testify at the Jan 6 hearings were standout witnesses and brought the most human picture to us of the underlying problems we are in. They were harassed and threatened for doing everything properly. A third generation was dragged into this as Shaye’s grandmother ws targeted and her home invaded with discord. Shaye and Lady Ruby were the perfect rando scapegoats as they counted votes in Georgia and they were the perfect sympathetic witnesses.
Today we saw how their lives were upturned and made dirty by political craven urges to power. Perhaps their lives can be repaired, I hope deeply for that for them as I hope the same for us all. They are the some of the most harassed of us but we will all be forever changed.
Public opinion has become the weapon of choice and the weapon itself has no way of being held accountable. If one will be held accountable, there will be more dispatched by the lies. Truth may stop some lies but we can’t control the liars.
Facing a rocky future of discussions and likely fights, demonstrations and predictable riots around the questions we are facing, as John Lewis is often quoted, to get into “good trouble” we find too many dedicated to “bad trouble” or simply trouble. It’s an unfair fight as there are no rules.
The hottest button, Roe v Wade discussion is coming shortly. There will be more about lots of issues about which we are strictly divided and those divisions are widened by lies, duplicity, hypocrisy, intimidation and other pretenses all meant to bring chaos, dampen resolve, waste time and destroy people going about the course of living their lives. The discussions will be disingenuous as the facts are not in dispute. Most United States citizens are in favor of leaving it in place and the surprise is we may lose it in grand bully tactics.
How can we strive to be more like the committee? What drives their calm is knowing the truth. Being confident in it. Educate, illuminate and spread the truth. The lies are many, the truth is less confusing. As every brick in a road is laid one at a time, they can also be removed. Laboriously, one at a time.
