Twitter has failed. People are failed by Musk.

Twitter has in the neighborhood of 330 million monthly registered users on the social media platform. The reach is likely a billion people in any month. Facebook is huger with 2.5 billion on Earth on that platform in the same timeframe. Twitter is smaller indeed but in some ways a more “important” platform for daily and moment to moment communication. Twitter hosts many official government accounts, political leaders, celebrities and brands that also advertise bringing revenue.
For people who don’t use twitter, it may be a little lesser app that’s been called a sewer and more. For journalists, politicians, and government Twitter is a tool of communication that has heightened the pace of life. What are known as “trolls” make it a dangerous place, discrediting individuals and their ideas as well as spreading propaganda. Danger is relative in a virtual world but words and through them, ideas are offered and their truth is not assured.
Blue checks, a seal that is, depending on your device, a blue gear shape with a dropped out check mark, are applied to the right of a name if that person is given the blue check. The process of being awarded a blue check has changed over the years becoming fairly hard now and unfair say many who are denied the mark. For many it is a coveted dream of recognition. For others it’s the assurance that the person behind the tweet is that person or person allowed on the account. “Verified” to be who you say is the key.
Elon Musk purchased Twitter for 44 Billion dollars. Elon is the ultimate Blue Check Account. The thing is now his baby. Private. He’s, as is his prerogative, gone on a firing spree from top to middle and likely ordered more firing. The future is mused about but generally unknown. Musk is leveraged in the purchase with his car company, Tesla. The Saudi’s are involved too. Just mentioning. So even the richest man on the planet is cash poor and buying on a plan with others holding the notes against property.
Tesla among other things, owns 16,103 charging stations for its about quarter of a million cars on the road. Musk has satellites and with those, forged relationships with the US government in helping Ukraine receive information on the fly as troops move and need instruction, the satellite carries the signal in the field. As we are helping Ukraine in their fight agains Russia’s Vladimir Putin, and Musk is helping too but not in a good way although he would differ. Musk brought Vlad’s propagandist style talking points to us all, suggesting we help Ukraine make peace with Putin. It’s the old “don’t leave your husband, he won’t beat you so hard in the future”, gaslighting we see. We are educated. This is ancient history from Musk, last week?
Just today, we have gotten more details and an understanding of what went down at the Pelosi house. Inditement of David DePape is tomorrow which will reveal more details. This morning we heard more not real news or helpfulness through Twitter by the new driver. The twisted allegations of an unverified story from a hack online paper dismissed the attack and indicated the attacker was in the Pelosi house as a night time booty call. Gay porn. A MAGA headline grabber bigger than blood sucking baby killers. The details vary in which awful version you see. Like Q and Pizzagate they are wrong, false, fake, propaganda with a point. Rather than condemn politically driven violence for what it its: politically driven violence, which should never happen in our country, a once world trusted company owner either knowingly or stupidly spread Cult propaganda about a near deadly attack, frankly on anyone, but clearly meant for the second in line to the Presidency. Marge Green has called Pelosi a traitor who should be executed. Don Jr , Elise Stefanik, et al, join in as heads of the GOP. Madame Speaker is the most vilified member of the US Government at this time. The lies have been said again and again by her and now Elon has his toe in the sewer.
The tweet by Musk was removed and he admitted, by his own standards, his account should have been shut for that tweet alone. Is that an apology or condemnation of the episode? It was not. Musk is grinning and shrugging while Mr. Pelosi continues his recovery in the ICU.
Grim times. Know just how grim they are. David DePape, who will likely go to prison for attempted murder and much more is facing 13 - life, likely at this time, going up with federal charges to come. Mr. DePape will have his day in court.
If we are to pull our country back from the edge, we must vote and with hopes send these suicidal children out of the spotlight. Their tactics are stupid and their intent is not. They will steal the democracy and tell you you’re a jerk to want “that stuff”. How Medicare, Social Security, is a gift they think you don’t deserve. They will think about it. They will let you know. Why doesn’t the GOP simply ask us to go cut them a switch and pull our pants down?
Where is the outrage from Democratic leaders? Muted because they are terrified.
The country is in our hands now. For every generation that fought the Nazi’s and fascism at other times, for all the generations to come, vote blue. There is no other choice for us to keep the country and the freedoms we enjoy. Or used to. We need to restore much. The ethical values we hold in this country are vanishing.
