Every fashionista from 1960 to today understand fashion trends are always set by young unknowns living their lives while the fashion industry, cosmetics and cosmeceuticals drive those trends to maximize profits for products, magazines, travel, automobiles on and on every facet of manufactured, designed life.
Today it’s sadly reported that Mary Quant, the mother of the mini skirt has passed away. She is a tremendous example of a shift maker in the fashion industry. Introducing a departure from the shirtwaist dressing of the 1950’s and typified by the icon Twiggy. A sweeping change across fashion, music and art of the British invasion years ushering in the age when branding took the steering wheel. Sasoon, Ann Taylor, Ralph Lauren, Coach all began leaving Chanel, Balenciaga and others to wonder what happened. Not to worry, the old guard found their markets.

Also in the 1960’s plastic surgery emerged as the sweet sixteen gift of choice for so many on the Long Island of New York. Rhinoplasty. Brought out of the closet of needing one for a break or deviated septum problem, the cosmetic nose job broke the ice. Next were breast enhancements. Face lifts were perfected, smaller nips and tucks introduced and the follow up appointments with your cosmologist for support. A slip and slide of a slope that ends with extreme faces in everyday life. Most of the small to larger procedures cost a mountain once you are installed in the upkeep.
