We’re not done finding out. We aren’t done convincing a lot of the country that Joe Biden is the fairly elected President of the United States. If he isn’t, he seems to be the man for the job for this time, however, he was elected fairly.
Our problems are the same problems the world over and we seem to be doing well all things considered. Gas is down and we are on our way to infrastructure fixes. We are out of a terrible war that was endless. Joe is not on the ballot this November but our ability to hold free and fair elections may well be. Well, they are and it is because the Republican Party as it is well known to be only able to win if they manipulate the outcome somehow. Limiting voting rights. Gerrymandering of districts. We have heard it and it’s true. They don’t have ideas, they don’t pass bill and oddly like to share the glory for things Democrats do.
Paul Manifort has been given credit for the election of Giorgia Meloni as the Prime Minister of Italy although it may be overstating his help as she has been on the political scene for a long time, but Paul is considered to be a master at managing campaigns for a victory to the ones paying for said campaign. We have seen it here before. Manifort, you may recall, received seven and a half years in prison for fraud and other charges like falsifying business records. Lots of lying. He was ultimately pardoned before TFG left office.

Interestingly, the political party Meloni ran on was the same party of Mussolini, the former fascist dictator of Italy. You know, Il Duce. The inspiration for Hitler. I’m not seeing a lot of positive excitement about her win. Just the opposite. Fears are well founded about the trend to authoritarianism, a fascist trend in the world. It’s a world trend moving to authoritarianism, and it’s strong.
There are many dots still to connect in the American saga we have been living through. We have lived it, watched it and through the Jan6 Committee hearing, we are understanding it better. Who, why, when, where and why are what we are seeing from their hearings. The interviews, the subpoenas the stories. The “saga” is a coup that never has completely stopped. The GOP is still trying to grab all the power. Our power. We know it. We see it.
Let’s know exactly what this was about. Let’s learn the real seriousness of the insurrection. Sure there were a few people who were there to simply protest but we are learning that day was planned by more than a few and the point was to keep the administration in power, a coup. They were deadly serious. There were plans, discussions, texts, coordination in many branches of government permeated by MAGA cultist. At this time, most of the Republican Party could be described as MAGA cultists. These people must be found out and relieved from office, by removal or simply select better representatives by voting. Voting is also what the MAGA cultists seek to limit and ultimately remove. Just as Women’s right to privacy evaporated in a moment, voting might also vanish. Then what?
This is an election that will hinge on broad questions. Will our vote bring us continued democracy? Will we be prepared for another election. Will free and fair elections still be with us? It’s really the only question to ask tight now. Women rights depends on it. Voting is the activity that makes our country a representative democracy. Those in office represent us - our wants and needs. They advocate for us. Us.
