It’s a course of attack Trump believes is working in his favor, keeping favor with his base. The Base, a group that deifies Trump for one reason, he demands it. He shouted his demand for allegiance while changing his script so many times he thinks compliance is love. It must be unbearable for him. I imagine as he knows he’s unloveable.
