Sorry for the waking up answer above.

A simpler answer is that I have been getting deeper into human history, the histories and evolution of religions, philosophy, the impact of philosophy on ethics and morality--from Plato’s work in the Republic, to Stoicism, to Hume’s ethics and Kant’s deontological response, to Nietzsche’s beyond good and evil and much more--and applying these thoughts to my 25 years experience as an expert witness in the legal system.

I have concluded that the legal eye is ugly flawed and is developed to help the powerful.

The human race has always been at war and, I believe always will be. I have concluded that discussing right and wrong in war is a fool’s errand.

I could go much deeper but do not like one finger typing on my iPad if long.

I understand why you like this and I agree with him on many of his beliefs, but not all. This conflict is much more complex and there probably are no real solutions.

Agreed, there are likely no solution unless Hamas proves to prevail.

There no proof winning would end anything for any terror organization.

I’m curious as to which complexities you’re referring. My thoughts are in line with Nance, that this may be a precursor to a bigger conflict. I’m not sure that can be avoided considering the opening by Hamas.

To ask what complexities I’m referring to

One must walk to the edge of the abyss,

Peer into it and observe

The eternal energies of chaos.

Forgive me, i recently awakened

To read “Normal Island News”

Read the comments from my cloud

Then listened to

The low moans and distant shrieks

From the written megaphone

Of “OK DOOMER” by Jessica Wildfire

Before retiring last night

I pre-programmed my dreams

Watching YouTube videos

Where I danced on vibrating strings

From the musicians of quantum physics

With the lens of fractal spaces.

In other words

To discuss the complexities I see

Is by nature complex.

Hopefully Gari I do not alarm you with my rantings. Now that I’m semi-retired I have removed the blinders to my vision and leg shackles slowing the journey on my path.

oh, no. Takes a bit more to alarm me, lol. Just a long morning I guess. So, yeah. People. We don't appear to learn much or quickly at all for how intelligent we are. It's emotion not intellect. On that...our drivers,... survival, sex, food, then more complex because we are so clever. Becomes nearly unrecognizable as it approaches war, becomes war and war becomes life. The levels at which it happens. Physical and metaphysical and all the ripples I say forget about all that because the moment that matters is the present. The moment of power is not the mental prep or the future which never actually happens because it is always not now, its the future ... are repercussions, the only moment of power is now.

So, just to restate some of my feelings I allowed Mr. Nance to tell for me as I agree with him. If he sees the landscape of the conflict as it really is we all must grapple with the problem. Unfortunately, history says, if it's not my problem, it's not my problem. I like you so I'll help a little but it's not my problem.

Jews, of which I am one, have been on the run a long time. I don't feel it directly but I know it's true. Beyond my grandparents, my family history is lost. I'm a mostly secular Jew born in NY. I'm concerned that Jews are the start point. I was schooled to understand in 1960's that Hitler chose the Jews as a scapegoat. I was schooled that a reason was needed for Hitler to rise to protect everyone from the guy convening in the corner. Once finished with Jews, on to oh, who knows or cares. The power of life is always now. "I now vow to destroy...." Does it matter who? no. When? no. But has to be future. fThis is the problem with abortion. GOP got it and it will be their failure point.

So filled with electricity and charges are the Jews in todays society, thanks Donald for bringing back the stereotypes. Hamas was easy to incite. Yes, the chosen again. How many dollars to build the tunnels to kill a few million Jews? Does this all look correct to you? Encircle Gaza and plan for 2-3 years to do what? 9/11 on civilians? No. This is the Arab world lighting matches and burning ants with spy glasses till something ignites the war of gas and oil to continue the death of the planet when we want OFF the oil and gas agenda for the future. Climate is out of control, I hope not but it appears to be. We will be adjusting and adjusting as it is, we need to stop what they won't.

Blinken and Biden have their work cut out and doing a spectacular job in Israel. Bibi screwed up and I'm not positive he's on the correct side of things fully yet. Yes we need to have cease fires and we need peace. If only the megalomaniacs would sign on.

Last thoughts... we won't know for some time, the truth is on casualties on the Palestinian side of things. Israel is now being held responsible for the welfare of Palestinians is a bizarre demand after 18 years of Gaza and Hamas rule. In fact Israel is attempting to meet the calls for humanitarian relief objectives while also attempting getting the hostages and eliminate Hamas command. I trust Biden, Blinken and Israel. Bibi is not all Israel. The objectives are sound. Thanks. I do go on.

Gari, as I have written before, I have spent the last 45 years primarily in the company of Jews and I have very positive observations and experiences as a group and with most of the individuals. I would be happy to share what I have learned if you wish but I want to share one negative: the one negative I can express concerning almost all my Jewish friends is that I recognized decades ago the rising anti-semitism in this country positively correlated with the rising Christian Evangelicals influence, the increasing positive marketing of Mormonism--I do not generalize against all Mormons but know it’s history, it’s creation and the Joseph Smith story--the moving of the countries southern bigots from the Democratic Party to the Republicans after Johnson got the civil rights bill passed, how Nixon developed his “Southern Strategy” to win his first election and on and on. However, all or most of my Jewish friends had many non-Jewish friends. Thus, though they recognized that anti-semitism existed in this country they didn’t seem to believe that the arc of hate would bend so far up as it has.

Most of my Jewish friends are loving optimists. Me, I was more aware of how deep the ugly underbelly of bigotry was in this country. I was not believed or at least was ignored somewhat as an alarmist. Sadly, my prophesies have turned out to be true and I fear this upward arc in bigotry will continue.

People in power have always recognized that by keeping those not in power at each other’s throats keeps the powerless existential despair eyes off those in power. This is too simplistic and much more “complex” than what I am saying here.

So, I’ve been studying more history of civilization--whatever the hell that is--of the world, this country and other countries and concluded that destructive, injurious behavior exists within all societies, religions, groups, often hidden underneath the surface. It has become clear to me, as David Hume philosophized, humans are not driven by reason but by our emotions.

Damn, I could go on and on but I’m just venting my own disappointments because underneath I’m just a silly idealist who dreams the impossible dream.

Thank you.

I was a romantic. An idealist. I’ve tried to hold all that but can’t any longer. I am dirtied by reality.

I have a deep relationship with my grandmother. She is always there when things are the very worst. Clearly passed away some time ago. I’m soothed by the knowledge things won’t change significantly. They never do.

“Dirtied by reality”

Woke up with idea that that thought could be explored more in Hall of Mirrors of Man of La Mancha. However, earlier in the musical the question is asked if the cure is worse than the disease.
